Dante & B. (screenplay)
A contemporary adaptation of Dante's timeless work, Vita Nuova, "Dante & B." breathes new life into a classic tale that has enchanted artists and admirers for seven centuries with its charming and strangely compelling mix of autobiography, verse, and religious allegory. Set in current-day San Francisco, and interweaving themes of poetry, politics, longing, and divine love, "Dante & B." tells the story of Dante, a talented young spoken-word artist, and Beatrice, an activist-journalist. From his first glimpse of Beatrice when they are children, to their first meeting 9 years later, Dante's artistic and spiritual life is awakened by the beauty and nobility of this goddess-like woman. His not-so-secret love prompts the ridicule of his friends, but soon the entire city will share Dante's reverence for this inspiring and fearless woman who radiates grace in the shadow of death.
